Open positions in our institute

Research associate position:

Precision Spectroscopy of trapped and laser-cooled molecular hydrogen ions

In the framework of the ERC Advanced Grant “Premol”, we are seeking a researcher skilled in trapped-ion physics to develop further our precision spectroscopy experiments on the simplest molecules. The position can be extended for a duration of up to 6 years.

Optical clocks for ground and space

We are seeking a researcher skilled in optical lattice clocks to work on our transportable lattice clock (now at 2 x 10-17 inaccuracy and 3 x 10-18 instability) and its application both in the laboratory and in the field (measurement of gravitational potential, also in connection with the ESA mission ACES).

The researcher will also participate in developing the ESA space mission “I-SOC”, an optical lattice clock for the ISS. This mission is coordinated by Prof. S. Schiller.

The position can be extended for a duration of up to 6 years.

Ph.D. student or Post-doc positions:

  • Ultrahigh-resolution spectroscopy of cold hydrogen molecular ions - towards a spectroscopic determination of the electron-proton mass ratio (In the framework of the ERC Advanced Grant “Premol”).
  • Measurements of the gravitational potential with a transportable optical lattice clock
  • A high-precision test of Lorentz Invariance: measuring the isotropy of space using ultrastable lasers and cavities
